Vitro America acquires Desert Glass Products |

Vitro America LLC, Memphis, announced that it has acquired substantially all production and inventory assets of glass fabricator, Desert Glass Products LLC, Las Vegas. Vitro America will assist Desert Glass in fulfilling certain customer commitments, and plans to offer employment to qualified employees of Desert Glass, according to an Aug. 20 release |

Federal stimulus plan provides fleeting relief to construction industry |

Industry sources say the recent uptick in construction jobs will likely be fleeting since it is based on federal stimulus dollars that will soon dry up.
"There are few signs of life in privately funded construction, and state and local budget deficit projections are forcing further cuts in non-stimulus public projects," said Ken Simonson, chief economist at the Associated General Contractors of America, in prepared remarks. |
