Vitro supplies a sophisticated bottle
  • The elegant design highlights its multiple facings multiple etched designs.
  • This family of Tequilas now includes Olmeca, Olmeca Altos and Olmeca Tezon and is marketed in more than 80 countries.

Since its founding in 1909, Vitro has responded to the growing needs of the Mexican tequila industry, as it is the principal supplier of bottles for that market.

Its products contribute to the success of many brands that are now popular in the Mexican market, as well as international markets.

One of the more recent examples is 100% agave Tequila Olmeca Altos that was launched into the marketplace by Casa Pedro Domecq, a company that excels in the best of two worlds: tradition and the local culture coupled with the global experience of Pernod Ricard that translate into a high degree of confidence.

“We’re dealing with a premium product where from the beginning of the project we invited the client to our specialized design center in Mexico City where, through the use of advanced technology, we were able to present the client with different sketches and 3D models of what the final bottle design would look like”, Jesus Navarro, Marketing Manager for Wine and Liquor Containers, Central Zone for Vitro’s Containers business unit.

He adds that the bottle design, with a 700 ml capacity, was quite a challenge, due to the complexity of the etching on its surface and its required thickness.

“The surface is covered with a large quantity of embossed images and etchings in addition to the thickness of the sides and bottom which represented the biggest challenge to resolve, while making sure we had the proper glass distribution in these areas”, he explains.

The product, produced using exclusively the “Tahona” process (the original 500 year old tequila producing process), will be offered both in Aged and White versions as a complement to the rest of the family of tequilas, Olmeca and Olmeca Tezon.

Currently Olmeca tequila is sold in over 80 countries and is considered to be the number one Tequila in Europe, Middle East and Africa and the fourth in the world in terms of sales. It is produced exclusively in Arandas, a town located in Los Altos region of Jalisco, the cradle of the agave plant.

“We are proud to be part of this project as we’re privileged to deal with a client who is totally committed to quality and who historically enjoys a widely recognized prestige, as it offers one of the best portfolios of wines and liquors anywhere”
